For the love of books, and the power of the human mind.

This is one of those paintings that just happened, evolving as I was working on it. What started as a simple sketch of the model became a 150+ hour painting marathon.

156 books are in the background (yes, I counted them...), all detailed one by one over the course of two days. The books in the front are some of my favourite pieces of literature.

The sketches in the open book are of course by Leonardo DaVinci - the Vitruvian Man and arm anatomy studies from one of his journals.
